Domino’s Pizza posts exceptional trading over the new year period
Domino’s Pizza Group PLC (LON:DOM) said trading in the first quarter has been strong, with exceptional trading over the new year period.
System sales in UK & Ireland, which include both franchised and corporate stores, were up 18.7% to £371mln in the 13 weeks to 28 March.
The fast-food chain said the delivery business has performed particularly well and more than offset lower sales in the collection business, which was hit by restrictions.
Delivery grew 7% while collection is still 35% below 2019 levels.
The sale of its Icelandic business, agreed for £13.7mln last month, is expected to complete in May.
“The investments we are making to deliver our multi-year strategic plan give us confidence in our ability to capitalise on the opportunities which lie ahead as the nation begins to emerge from the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions,” said chief executive Dominic Paul in a release.
